Original question:

There is a perennial discussion about Web based Polling vs. email-only Polling.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both systems, but one is there and the other still needs to be developed.

What do you prefer:

1. To continue using the Polling Booth, with emailed Polling Notices. Advantages: you can monitor the Polling as it progresses and access all needed background info via the Booth. Disadvantage: not everybody may have easy web access.

2. to develop a new system, that will send you Ballots via email, to be answered via email only. Counting and verification must then be dome manually. Advantage: easy response for everybody Disadvantage: a separate email is needed for each Polling topic. Manual verification and counting becomes very laborious with large numbers.

Your preferred way to be Polled

Total number of voters: 97
Vote Number of Votes Percentage
email only based 21 21.6495%
web based with email notice 76 78.3505%

Comments:
  • Perhaps an email backup system can be created for those with trouble with web voting?
  • If I had to pay for this poll online, I probably woud not participate.
  • you can automate the responding email with ease (wording is bad and not honest)
  • voting systems will always be controversial. Better stick with the devil you know.
  • Using "polling booth" I can't tell what issues I've already voted on, and what my votes were. The date I voted would also be useful to have as well.
  • With all due respect, this is a body governing part of the internet, and web access can be reasonably expected.
  • this is polling, not elections
  • the alternative is absurd. This booth is bugged. An automated professional votes by mail would be far better:
  • It ain't broke so don't fix it!
  • For any official voting, I'd opt for e-mail for reasons of confidentiality as well as ease; for non-binding information-gathering, either will do.
  • Web based is OK, but the Polling Botth could certainly benefit from an upgrade!
  • Place all the voting issues/questions on one page. Going back and forth for each topic is tedious
  • I think this works excellently.
  • i much prefer e-mail only voting but will participate no matter how the voting method chosen
