Original question:

The following question was raised by Jefsey Morfin on the icannatlarge discussion list. It can be discussed either in the Polling Booth (under "discuss") or here http://www.icannatlarge.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=821#821

3. Question 'how':

- there are those who want to be global (American, ie universal: one single leading organization) - there are those who want to be coordinated (a few actions and a lot of vote) - there are those who want to be global (European, ie all the independent parts of the world together : subsidiarity, capillarity, consensus)

Options: single organization a coordination between multiple organizations subsidiarity and capillarity

How should we be organized?

Total number of voters: 139
Vote Number of Votes Percentage
a coordination between multiple organizations 46 33.0935%
cannot make up my mind 2 1.4388%
single organization 42 30.2158%
subsidiarity and capillarity 49 35.2518%

Comments:
  • IMO
  • The options here presented could be refined in a discussion. A good example for the need of a Polling Commission
  • i was going to vote for cannot make up my mind but in the end, feel that single organization is most effective if care is taken to bring all points of view into decisiions
  • No organization is able to have enough flexibility to react on the urges of the real (or cyber?) life. Regional organizations coordinating together to build the whole is IMO the better way.
  • I would like to see a little part of democratic (or something like that) behaviour between the people of the world and its countries
  • How do you think icannatlarge should be organised in order to make it more effective, efficient, and democratic?
  • is necessary getting a equal politic for develop the user´s participation
  • Single organization, but with subsidiary orgs (by region?) with some veto power (2+ regions, maybe?) - federal system
  • As ICANNatLarge should represent "the world", it should consist of many different subsidaries
  • I wasn't sure what the third option means. I'd like an umbrella organisation (one organisation comprising multiples)
  • Very unclear description on "American" and "European" and "capillarity" etc.
  • Decentralised within ICANN - surely there must be a model somewhere.
  • umbrella w regions/parties/other orgs
