Comments:
- one refinement: members could set threshold for receiving topics. board or polling committee would select questions to go to everyone. members could sign up to receive all questions and if 20% of this group aproves the question, it would be forward
- Yes, provided that there is an elected Polling Commission to streamline the question, avoid duplication and abuse of this privilege.
- I think that non panel members should be able to discuss their topics via discussion forums, and take polls there, and panel members should see the results - but not formal polls like this. It would get overwelming.
- a member should know for certain whether or not he is participating in an official poll of the organisation or some personal oe medial polling event - unofficial polls should carry no organisational weight
- Well, yes and no. Yes, but we can't have floods. That'd kill the process dead in its tracks.
- Historically, this 'Free-Style' have caused more divisions than good to the overall Organisation. However, there must exists a mechanism where bottom-up feedback is in-place and can be largely influenced by members.
- A vital requirement for any democracy.
- There should be a kind of a "PrePoll", maybe done on the Homepage, and if say, 10% of all members support they idea of voting on that, then everybody should vote on that
- Replace discussion by constant polling?
- E-mail makes this possible. How valuable would the responses be, however: they would come from a self-selected group, not a random sample of the membership, so their value as polling data would be limited, though reasoned responses could be good.
- in SIGs/parties but control overall polls
- However this process requires some control so as not to "consume" the organization though "vote philibustering".
